Michael Jackson you will be missed Pt. 2
June 25th 2009 Michael Jackson passed.
It took the world by surprise. He really changed the whole music game in the 80s. I truly believe no one artist will ever surpass his mark on the music industry. Yeah, we know he got really weird over the last 10-15 years but, as an Artist, he was one of a kind. For us we will always remember him for his records “Off the Wall” (a classic!) “Thriller” (Epic) “BAD” (Best dance video ever!) and “Moonwalker” (Movie/Video/Album). But most of all for CAPTAIN EO!
Unless you were born in the 70’s, early 80’s and came to Disneyland you’re most likely really confused of who or what Captain EO really is. It was a Disneyland Ride and an EPIC 3-D mini film Directed by the great Francis Ford Coppola, executive-produced by George Lucas! If it wasn’t for the great success of Captain EO we possibly could never have had Mr. Lucas create STAR TOURS. Captain EO opened Sept. 18th 1986 and Closed its doors in 1997. This seventeen-minute film costing an estimated $30 million dollars to produce, almost twice the cost of building the entire park in 1955. At the time it was the most expensive film ever produced on a per-minute basis. Heres a little treat for everyone.
Us at TILT are hoping that Disneyland will bring this amazing 3-D Film back to us MJ lovers and take out the horrible “Honey, I Shrunk the Audience“ 3-D Film that is there now. Its a long shot but we really hope Disney makes the right desission to honor Michael Jackson the right way. IN CLASSIC 80’s STYLE!
We also have one more treat for everyone.
Its this BBC Radio 1 mix done by Kissy Sell Out. He just mixed this yesterday. It has some current hot dance tracks but we totally love how he snuck in some MJ tracks to let us all know who really owns the dance music of the 80’s. Much love to you Kissy! If you havent heard of him be sure to tune into BBC Radio One Streaming and give him some love on his myspace. Click this link here to view the tracklisting.
