Featured Artist: Neon Indian + Remixes
Neon Indian is the latest workings of Texas resident Alan Palomo (21) and is the predecessor of two previous projects: VEGA and Ghosthustler. In an interview at Pitchfork, we discover that Neon Indian started over a holiday break when Alan and friend were suppose to spend an afternoon trippin’. Plans fell through and Alan felt bad so he wrote the song “Should Have Taken Acid With You” and sent it as an apology, which – you guessed it, got a better response than expected. So with with new persona and more motivation than most of us probably had during our drug years; this Lo-Fi retro project was birthed.
With lyrics driven by youthful angst, Palomo presents most of his tracks in a nostalgic Lo-Fi and rather psychedelic way which hides the underlying meaning quite effectively. Even Palomo said “I don’t even know if I’ll provide a lyric sheet for Psychic Chasms– I like the idea that everyone draws their own meaning”. So here for TILT readers to do just that, take a listen.
