Featured Artist: Telefon Tel Aviv
I first found out about Telefon Tel Aviv 2 years ago when I was digging for some Trip-Hop/IDM. This Electronica duo has always had a special spot in my heart. The melodic synths teamed with glitching bleeps and bloops touches the very core of my musical soul. Last year Jan 22nd 2009, great musician (and half of Telefon Tel Aviv) Charlie Wesley passed away. It came to me as a great shock that he had died so sudden, so young and only 2 days after their album release of Immolate Yourself.
There was rumous that Charlie had killed himself, which were clearly un-true as it was reviled on their myspace page here.
Charlie and Joshua Eustis have touched many people with their music. I find great calming and peace with these 3 songs in particular.
Exactly one year to the day of Charlies death I found myself at my Grandfathers Funeral. It’s so random (or not so random?) and wild how the universe works but all I can say is that without these 3 songs I’m not sure how I would have dealt with my own personal loss. I hope with me sharing these songs with everyone, it somehow reaches out to someone in a similar way. Thank you to Gramps, Charlie and Joshua for all the great memories and music that will live forever.
