Distant Cousin – Distant Cousin (EP)

I’m sitting here in the office as I usually am around 4pm on a Monday. I’m listening to this self-titled EP from Distant Cousin and it’s doing interesting things for me. This is very different from your typical ambient electronic release with a lot of different elements including some deep house, some breaks, and even a cool bit of hip-hop. I’m pretty excited about it.

Distant Cousin says, “My sound and approach fall somewhere between DJ Shadow, Burial, Four Tet, Andy Stott with an affinity for dark R&B vocals. My music has been described as pensively cinematic and reflective while never forgetting the importance of a good hook. I’m also a multi instrumentalist and like to incorporate live instrumentation into my arrangements as well.”

Go ahead and listen to the offerings from ‘Distant Cousin’ below.
